Beruchim HaBa’im! On behalf of Congregation Bnai Yeshurun and its nearly 800 member and affiliate families, we welcome you.
Founded over sixty years ago, Bnai Yeshurun has been the catalyst for the development of Teaneck as one of the premier Orthodox communities in the United States, with a full variety of local Jewish establishments as well as over a dozen other shuls in our vicinity. We like to think of ourselves as the “flagship” shul in our community and this letter is, more than anything, an offer to try to help to facilitate your integration into our community.
Whether you are new to Teaneck, or simply new to CBY, transitioning into a new community may bring up some or all of these questions:
- What is the schedule for daily or Shabbat minyanim?
- Who are my neighbors that have children the same age as mine?
- How can I kasher my kitchen counter tops?
- Which local establishments have a reliable hashgacha?
- What youth programs and activities might accelerate the integration of my children into their new community?
- Who can help us move our baby grand piano to the other side of the living room?
Let us try to help. Our rabbis, lay leadership, and office staff are at your disposal. Call our office and tell us how we can be of assistance. There are families, like your own, who have gone through the same processes you are currently experiencing. They would like to meet you, invite you for a Shabbat meal, and help you the way others have helped them.
Over the past couple of decades, Bnai Yeshurun has grown into a large, metropolitan shul, with all its attendant advantages - multiple minyanim on Shabbat, almost continuous weekday morning and evening services, a wide variety of shiurim and lectures from early in the morning until late at night, organized chessed and tzedakah projects to benefit our community and beyond. But, we also try to retain the warmth and the welcoming atmosphere of a small, “out of town” synagogue.
We look forward to greeting you in Bnai Yeshurun and, together, building the Torah community of tomorrow!
